Sacred Literature
In the Vaishnava tradition, texts are not just books — they are living transmissions. The Vedas were heard (shruti), the epics were remembered (smriti), and the Puranas were told and retold across generations. Each layer deepens the teaching.
Two Ramayanas
Valmiki's Ramayana is the original — composed in Sanskrit, heroic and grand in scope. It is the adi-kavya, the first poem, and its Rama is a noble warrior-king navigating impossible moral terrain.
Tulsidas's Ramcharitmanas, written in Awadhi Hindi in the 16th century, brought Rama into the hearts of common people. His Rama is not just a king but a beloved — and the text is sung, not just read, across North India to this day.

भागवत पुराण
The Bhagavata Purana
The Bhagavata Purana is the crown jewel of Vaishnava literature — 18,000 verses centered on the leelas of Krishna. The 10th canto, describing his childhood and Vrindavan pastimes, is the most beloved section of Hindu scripture. It is meant to be heard, not just studied.
